To celebrate its 175thanniversary, St John will be holding a series of events from the 23rd to the 30th June at the church. All are welcome to attend.
The Society will have a photographic display at the church.
Society members enjoyed a trip to the Newport Medieval Ship Project yesterday where we were given an interesting and informative guided tour.

On 10th June 2025, to celebrate the 120th Anniversary of its opening, the Society’s secretary, Sandra Davies, gave an illustrated talk about the origins of the Carnegie Free Library (now Carnegie Community Centre) in Evelyn Road, Skewen
The Society is proud to announce the launch of a new book, authored by our secretary Miss Sandra F Davies. “Fleeting Shadows” is an imagination based on the factual attempt to establish Gnoll College at Neath in 1857. The book can be purchased at Neath Mechanics’ Institute, 4 Church Place, Neath, SA11 3LL at a cost of £10.00. (The Institute is open Monday and Thursday 09:30 to 12:30 and 13:30 to 16:45). All proceeds from the book will be donated to the aid agency CAFOD.”
At the AGM held on 28th March, Life Memberships were awarded to former Chairs and Committee members, Mrs Virginia Jones and Miss Anne Morgans, in recognition of their many years of service to the Society
