6th July Heritage Day at Neath Abbey

Society wins share of Red Nose Day Community Cash Fund

Comic Relief

The Committee is very pleased to announce that our Society has been chosen, along with 59 other groups, to receive a grant from the Red Nose Day Community Cash Fund (money raised through the Comic Relief Appeal).

We intend to use the sum awarded  – £650 – to enhance our Heritage Day to be held in October.  We will purchase two items, a new camcorder which will be an enormous help in our work of recording reminiscences on Heritage Day, and display boards, which will not only be used on Heritage Day, but also for events in which the Society participates, such as the Open Day at Neath Abbey on 6th July.

The Society wishes to thank Helen Fagan and her Community Foundation for granting us the funds that will help enable us to take the work of the Society forward into new areas.

The visit to the National Woollen Mills of Wales on 8th April proved to be very interesting, and for those who remembered the Woollen Mills at Neath Abbey run by the Jones family, a trip down memory lane.
